On December 28, 2012, Southern Dat Xanh JSC. held a charity program named “From hearts to hearts” at Nhat Hong Institution for blind children and Hy Vong School for hearing-impared children in Binh Thanh district with the viewpoint: “We can live on what we receive, but we can create lives from what we give”
Deep inside a small alley in Binh Thanh district, our first destination was Nhat Hong Institution for blind children (20/4 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, ward 19, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City), where we gave presents and scholarships to students there. This is one of three institutions where blind children are raised by Sisters of Men Thanh Gia established since 1995. There were 38 children with congenital visual impairments aged 9 to 20 that are living and studying to make their way in the world, 12 of whom are university students.
“There’s always a path where belief lies” - That’s what every one felt when they visited Nhat Hong Institution. Their life may not be complete, but what we can feel from them was strong belief in life, optimism, love of life, constant smiles on their faces, and desire for a brigher future. And that was what we believed.
After saying goodbye to Nhat Hong Institution, we continue our journey to Hy Vong School for students with hearing impairment (25 Nguyen Van Lac, ward 21, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City). There were 120 hearing-imparied students living and studying. We gave presents, scholarships, and played together in a loving and warm atmosphere despite the cold breeze at the end of winter.
“From hearts to hearts” is an activities that ensue the traditinal values pursued by Southern Dat Xanh ever since in order to express our responsibility for the society and community, especially for unfortunate lives with a hope that we can contribute to creating a better world and a complete, meaningful spring.
